Height Map

Throughout the process we have been keen to ensure that local people were fully appraised as to the heights of the proposals. 'Heights Maps' have been prepared for this and updated where necessary as the scheme evolved and more accurate survey information came to hand. The original maps showed heights above ground level, as local people found the heights above sea level, referred to as 'Above Ordinance Datum' or AOD for short, very confusing.

The most recent 'heights map' incorporates both methods of describing the heights of the proposed buildings. This is because the planning application documents require AOD dimensions to be used. The map includes spot distances between buildings and the heights of buildings in the immediate area. This additional information allows for a direct comparison between the building heights being proposed and the existing context.
